Getting Accurate Information about CWU

Barge Hall

We want you to have up-to-date, accurate information about Central Washington University. The fastest and best way to do that is to go to the right source—to the people who collect, analyze, and manage information and programs for Central.

CWU Director of Government Relations, Ann Anderson, is the primary contact for state elected leaders and policy staff on higher education budget and policy issues and information about Central Washington University. Her great depth of experience in legislative affairs and policy development makes her an outstanding resource for public policymakers.

Ann served in the Washington State Senate for 12 years where her leadership positions included Senate Majority Whip and Majority Caucus Chairwoman. As a state senator, Ann's committee assignments included the Senate Higher Education and K-12 Education committees. Ann's work in education has been recognized with CWU's Distinguished Alumni Award and the Washington Vocational Education Special Legislative Award. Ann holds bachelor of education and master of education degrees from Central Washington University. Please contact Ann at (509) 607-1273 or anderann@cwu.edu.

Public Affairs Liaison Linda Schactler will work with the government relations division this year to ensure speedy and precise responses to legislative information requests on policy, budget, and constituent issues. Linda is the former Director of Communications for the Washington State Senate, and former deputy director of the Washington State Higher Education Coordinating Board. She holds a master of arts in English literature from Washington University in St. Louis. During the legislative session she may be contacted in Olympia at 360-866-9014.

Government Relations Specialist, Steve DuPont, is Ann's legislative assistant and will gladly help you reach her or key CWU staff. Steve, a CWU alumnus, served as the Vice President for Political Affairs for the Associated Students of CWU from 2005 to 2007 and also served on the Washington Student Lobby Board of Directors.
