The Central Washington University Learning Commons Writing Center is excited to provide one-on-one online consultations for our online students and/or those enrolled at one of our university centers. There are two types of online appointments available:
1. Email consultations (24-48 hour turn-around): As a university center or online student, you can make an appointment to email a draft of your paper, along with your instructor's directions, to the Writing Center for review. A tutor reads your paper, makes helpful notes in the margin, and often records a screen-cast for your review. The tutor will not edit or correct your paper, nor will he/she predict the grade you will receive; however, our tutors are great at giving constructive feedback that will help you become more confident in your own writing skills.
2. Live "Online Tutoring" in Canvas: As an online or university center student, you are automatically enrolled in an "Online Tutoring Course" that you can access through your CWU Canvas account. "Live" sessions are conducted using Blackboard Collaborate where you and a tutor can view and discuss your writing via screenshare, video, audio, and/or text-chat.
How to request tutoring:
Drop-in sessions are available through the online Canvas course. Please log in to find the tutors' schedule and drop-in hours, then simply drop in during those times.
An appointment is required for email consultations. Please refer to the contact information above to schedule a tutoring session.
For all appointment requests, please include your student ID, CWU email address (we will not accept gmail, yahoo, etc.), class standing (junior, senior, etc.), registered campus/online, major, course, and professor.
