Paying Respect With Evening of Recognition

Showing thanks through acknowledgment during the 2017 Evening of Recognition.

As the 2016-2017 academic year came to a conclusion, the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) hosted Evening of Recognition on May 24, 2017 to acknowledge outstanding individuals in the CWU campus community with a semi-formal reception and award ceremony. Evening of Recognition acknowledges those who go above and beyond, standing out amongst the rest as positive influences to those around them.

Submission of nominees began during the winter academic quarter, allowing student, staff and faculty to receive accomplishment for their exemplary efforts in bettering our community.

"Evening of Recognition is unique because it allows us to fulfill a fundamental human need: appreciation, within the institution,” said Elizabeth Vidaurri, program manager at the CLCE. “The nominee’s response to such gratitude confirms their effort is valued and leads them to continued success at Central Washington University.”

The evening began with conversation and welcoming words from various speakers. Guests in attendance included CWU President, James Guadino, and his cabinet.  Nominees and guests enjoyed a gourmet meal, just before awards were presented.

Over 20 awards were presented to nominated students, staff and faculty. This was a successful evening, providing acknowledgment to those doing great things in our community. We look forward to next year’s events, until then, looking for inspiration in our wonderful, diverse, CWU community. Don’t forget to nominate the influential individuals in your life during the 2018 Evening of Recognition.
