PowerPoint: Getting Started

Type: Professional development.

Experience level:  Beginner; for those with little or no experience Beginner icon.

Length: Two hours (break-time included).

Description:  Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation software package used to create online slide shows, as well as signs and organizational charts.  Learn how to create a presentation, use outline and slide sorter views to organize the slides, and add color and special effects. This class will be taught using the latest versions of PowerPoint for PC and Mac (separate sessions).

Prerequisites:  Understand the basics of Windows or the Mac OS.

You can view the new features of PowerPoint 2013 with hands-on examples by opening the program and then clicking on the Take a tour icon in the right-hand pane of the window. You can also get free training for Microsoft Office programs for the PC (limited Mac classes) via the Microsoft IT Academy. Instructions for setting up an account, logging on to the Microsoft IT Academy and a class list are available via the My CWU Links menu in MyCWU.
