Excel: Getting Started

Length: Two hours

Description:  Excel is the spreadsheet application included in Microsoft Office Suite.  This course will introduce the basics of creating, editing, and saving worksheets.  You will work with basic formulas and functions, format data, and print the worksheets. This class will be taught using the latest versions of Excel for the PC and Mac (separate classes).

Prerequisites:  Understand the basics of Windows or the Mac OS

Online options: Microsoft provides free online training for Excel on the Mac here: http://mac2.microsoft.com/help/office/14/en-us/excel/ with videos and courses. For Excel 2013, (PC) go to: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/training-courses-for-excel-2013-HA104032083.aspx. You can view the new features of Excel 2013 with hands-on examples by opening the program and then clicking on the Take a tour icon in the right-hand pane of the window. You can also get free training for Microsoft Office programs for the PC (limited Mac classes) via the Microsoft IT Academy. Instructions for setting up an account, logging on to the Microsoft IT Academy and a class list are available via the My CWU Links menu in MyCWU.
