All email addresses are email@example.com. Note: That username is not the login name used logging into the Novell login screen. It is typically last name followed by first initial with a maximum of 8 characters. i.e. John Smith would have the mail address firstname.lastname@example.org and John Smithley would have the mail address email@example.com.
The email server is Netware Groupwise. There is more than one method to access your e-mail on campus. The preferred method is to use the Groupwise client which is available on all lab machines. The next method is through a browser interface. The only access to mail from off campus is through the web interface described below. Access will be available through dial-in when the service becomes available.
Initially, your e-mail password from Groupwise is the same as your network login password. However, the two passwords do not stay synchronized. When you change your network login password, the Groupwise password is not automatically changed. To change your password in Groupwise:
Note: If you mark the checkbox "No password required with NDS", then the Groupwise client program will use your network login password for authentication. If you wish to access your mail through the web interface , you must enter your groupwise password.
The Groupwise client is the preferred way because of most complete access to features of the software and the most efficient access.
Windows Groupwise Client
It is already available as a network application on a Windows Desktop after you login through the Netware login screen. Just click on the Groupwise icon and check out help if needed. If you are prompted for a password, it is because the checkbox "No password required with NDS" described above was not set and your network login password has changed. If this is your first time in, enter your temporary password given to you when you activated your account and follow the instructions above for changing your Groupwise password. If you have been in before, you need to enter your old password and follow the instructions above for changing your Groupwise password.
Macintosh Groupwise Client
It is already available as a application on a Macintosh Desktop. If it is not already there, please contact ITS Help desk for an installation of the client. Just click on the Groupwise icon and check out help if needed. When you are prompted for a password, enter your network login name and password. Make sure you read about passwords for the Groupwise client above.
To access the web interface for Groupwise, use the location gwweb.cwu.edu in your browser. You are then prompted for your network login. The interface is very similiar to using the client but there are some things you may not be able to do and the speed is not as good. If it does not take your password, it is probably because your Groupwise password does not match your network login password. In this case try your temporary password assigned at account activation. Please read the information above about changing your Groupwise password. Note that you should enter only the name portion of email address in the Name field. i.e. If your Novell login name is .SimpsonH.S.Students.cwu, enter only SimpsonH. Also, the password is case sensitive, you must enter it exactly as it was set.
This service is not available. Use another method described above.
