This program will be a practicum for Bilingual Education/ TESL endorsement and will provide the opportunity to interact with bilingual students and their teachers in the school community. Students will develop real world, practical experience and understanding of the strategies and techniques for use with second language learners in a general educational setting. Students will demonstrate the following: plan instruction for individual or small groups of students. Students will be instructed on a regular basis, be provided with ongoing formative assessment information about such students. Students will be involved with these activities for a total of sixty hours. Cultural activities and site visits will be arranged for participants to see more of the country. Participants will gain a unique perspective that they can use as culturally and linguistically diverse students.
The practicum is an experience in which you have the power to determine how much you will achieve and take away from this experience. Your job is to interact with the students and make the most of the time you have in the classroom every day. You will be observed regularly, but sporadically. Dress appropriately in business attire and conservatively.
