Applications are invited for the 2002-2003 Mahajani International Scholar award. This is an honor bestowed upon one international student each academic year in memory of Dr. Usha Mahajani, who served as a professor of political science at Central Washington University from 1965 until her tragically premature death in 1979. Her career at Central was marked by her enthusiasm for teaching, the great joy she received from helping students, her spirit of cooperation with faculty colleagues, her active community outreach, her intellectual curiosity and her distinguished research in political science and Southeast Asian studies.
The Mahajani International Scholar is an international student who best reflects Dr. Usha Mahajani's enthusiastic commitment to academic excellence, intellectual development and community service. The Mahajani International Scholar for 2001-2002 will receive $1,000, awarded at the beginning of fall quarter 2001.
Recipient will be invited to participate in the spring scholarship reception and will be asked to grant permission to use their photograph and story of their accomplishments to publicize the Mahajani Scholarship.
