Types of Programs

Study Abroad Programs

Study Abroad Programs are the most common type of international experience. On this type of program students enroll in regular courses with locals at a foreign university, language and culture courses with other international students, or a combination of both. Many Study Abroad Programs also include airport pick up services, on-site support staff, excursions, and cultural activities. Programs are available during the Academic School Year and Summer.

Faculty-Directed Programs

Faculty-Directed Programs are short-term, education abroad opportunities developed and taught by CWU professors, in conjunction with Study Abroad & Exchange Programs. They are a great option for first-year students, students who cannot study abroad on longer programs, or for those who want a more structured experience with other CWU students. Courses are available during Spring Break and Summer.

International Internships

International internships enable students to earn credits related to their academic department while gaining real-world professional experience with an intercultural perspective. This type of program is ideal for students during their junior and senior years. Program options are available during the academic year and summer, and include short-term (6- to 10-weeks) opportunities, as well as semester and year-long options.
