The International House program, located in Kennedy Hall, houses many International Exchange Students and students wishing to broaden their cultural experiences. Many activities and events are planned to enhance this atmosphere. There is no extra cost involved with living in the CWU International House. To view information on residence hall costs, please see the Residence Hall Rate Sheet.
The International Theme Community is designed to provide students an opportunity to learn about countries and cultures different from their own. Students will have many opportunities to interact with others from around the world by living together and participating in various cross-cultural activities.
The I-House mission is to encourage learning about different cultures by living together and having open communication about cultural similarities and differences.
The I-House vision is to contribute to the internationalization of the CWU community in conjunction with the Office of International Studies, World Languages and other global initiatives. We seek to broaden students’ understanding of the world and prepare them for the global workforce.
The goals of the I-House are:
- to foster better understanding of their hall mates’ culture
- encourage U.S. students to study abroad
- establish lifelong international friendships
- to give students an opportunity to gain a broader global perspective.
We plan to reach these goals by encouraging open communication within the hall, organizing events such as dinners, presentations and excursions, and bringing in speakers from different countries and representatives from Study Abroad.
Students who select I-House on their housing contract will contacted by the Faculty Advisor by e-mail or interviewed at the LLC/TC breakfast during Discover orientation.
