Types of Programs
Study Abroad Programs
Study Abroad Programs are the most common type of international experience. On this type of program students enroll in regular courses with locals at a foreign university, language and culture courses with other international students, or a combination of both. Many Study Abroad Programs also include airport pick up services, on-site support staff, excursions, and cultural activities. Programs are available during the Academic School Year and Summer.

Faculty-Led Courses are short-term opportunities developed and led by CWU professors, in conjunction with Study Abroad & Exchange Programs. They are a great option for first-year students, students who cannot study abroad on longer programs, or for those who want a more structured experience with other CWU students. Courses are available during Spring Break and Summer.
International Internships enable students to earn credits related to their academic department while gaining real-world work experience from an international perspective. This type of experience is ideal for students during their junior and senior years. Programs are available during the Academic School Year and Summer.
National Student Exchange (NSE)
The National Student Exchange (NSE) provides opportunities for you to study for a quarter, semester or year at another NSE college or university in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands - all while continuing to pay regular tuition at CWU or in-state tuition at the NSE host university.
