Health Insurance

All CWU international students are required to have health insurance which meets CWU’s minimum requirements listed below.

LewerMark enrollment for winter and spring insurance coverage will be available November 1st 2016. They offer an individual health insurance plan that will meet our minimum requirements.

You can enroll in this plan and make the payment directly to LewerMark.
After enrollment in LewerMark no further action is needed.

Here are a few other plans that will meet university international student health insurance requirements. You must supply a proof of coverage form and certificate of coverage provided from your insurance provider that shows the period of coverage and policy type.

If you have an existing health insurance policy or plan to purchase a non-LewerMark insurance policy, you must make sure it complies with the minimum requirements listed below.


  • Health insurance policy in English (preferred);
  • Minimum annual maximum benefit of $1,000,000;
  • Minimum pre-existing condition benefit of $2,500;
  • Minimum repatriation coverage benefit of $25,000;
  • Minimum medical evacuation coverage benefit of $50,000;
  • Deductibles not to exceed $500 per accident or illness
  • Provide coverage for self-inflicted injury of not less than $10,000;
  • Plan must include coverage for mental health conditions;
  • Plan must include intramural and club sports.

If you are not sure if a plan you are considering will meet our minimum requirements, you can email that plan to our office prior to purchasing it. We will review the coverage for you.

Remember that you will NOT be able to attend classes until we verify proof of adequate health insurance.
