ESL: Field Trips

Many interesting trips take place every quarter. In the past five years we have taken trips to Seattle, to Toppenish to see famous wall paintings, to Snoqualmie Falls and North Bend, to the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley, to Leavenworth (a German-style mountain village), to Yakima and the Native American museum, and to Mt. Rainier. We have also gone skiing, river rafting and sleigh riding.

Imagine visiting a German mountain village for shopping and lunch and then taking a sleigh ride in the nearby mountains. You can during winter quarter in the UESL Program. Join us for a unique visit to Leavenworth and then go dashing through the snow in a two horse open sleigh.

North Bend

North Bend is famous as the filming place of the tv series, "Twin Peaks." It also has a number of Outlet Stores, including Nike, which make it a good place to shop without going all the way to Seattle. We generally go to Snoqualmie Falls, a beautiful waterfalls, and to the North Bend shopping outlets for a day filled with natural beauty and shopping.

Seattle offers plenty to do in any weather! We take a school bus to the waterfront in the morning. From there you can take city buses, the monorail, or just enjoy walking to the Seattle Center and the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the International District, the Aquarium or any place else you'd like to see. Whether you're shopping, sightseeing, or eating, you'll have a fun-filled day with your UESL friends and teachers.

Mount Rainier

Mt. Rainier is Washington's most famous mountain and National Park. The park is located southeast of Seattle. It is snow covered all year round. The UESL Program usually takes a trip there in the summer for a day of beautiful scenery, hiking, and snowball fights!

Skagit Valley

Skagit Valley is so beautiful in the spring. There are fields of blooming flowers that stretch to the horizon. Come see the famous flowers with us.

Skiing or Snow boarding at Snoqualmie Pass in winter quarter is great! There is always plenty of snow and plenty of trails to go on. For a low package price you can rent skis or a snow board, take lessons and have fun falling! Whether you choose downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or snow boarding, you'll be glad you joined us at "The Pass".

Toppenish is a western town full of history. In fact, you can see the history in the wall paintings (murals) that are on many of the buildings . More than 25 of these famous pictures can be viewed on a walk through this town.

Yakima River

The Yakima River runs through Ellensburg. It is a popular river for river rafting. During summer quarter the UESL Program traditionally takes a wet and fun-filled ride down the Yakima. Another trip that we take sometimes is to the Yakima Mall (great for shopping) and the Yakama Native American Museum.
