Jillian Ingram is now serving as the interim general manager of the Central Washington University’s on-campus student radio station, 88.1 FM The ‘Burg. She assumed the role on July 1.
Ingram returns to KCWU for the second time as interim general manager. In 2007, she filled the position when former general manager Chris Hull took time off to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
“A little over a month ago I heard about this opportunity and jumped at the chance to be back at [KCWU],” says Ingram. “I love this station, love radio, and love the relaxed lifestyle of living in Ellensburg.”
Ingram graduated from the University of Washington with a double major in communication and sociology, led by her interests in media and public affairs. Throughout college and beyond she has worked in positions including production, camera operating, television-show hosting, and program coordinating.
“It’s nice to be able to commute by bicycle and spend my time helping this station to be a great educational tool for students and resource for the community,” says Ingram.
Passionate about music as well, since 2009, Ingram has spent much of her time writing, recording, and performing her own music with the band she and her husband formed.
Located in the Student Union and Recreation Center, 88.1 FM The ‘Burg is run by and for CWU students. It features music genres including modern rock, hip-hop, top 40, hot country, and alternative favorites. KCWU-FM has been operated under a non-commercial, educational FM broadcast license, first issued by the Federal Communications Commission to the CWU Board of Trustees in 1962.
A nationwide search for the permanent KCWU post is now underway. The position is expected to be filled in September.
