Vacation Leave

General Information

  • Vacation will accrue based on an employee's current FTE.
  • Vacation may not be used in advance of accrual.

  • No vacation is accrued or available for temporary/hourly employees.
  • Hours accrue at the end of each month, and are available for use on the first day of the following month.

Civil Service

  • New employees will accrue vacation, but may not use it until they have completed 6 months of service, and then may use after it is accrued with the supervisor's approval. For more information on vacation accrual, see WAC 357-31-165, or the appropriate union contract.
  • Requests for vacation leave must be approved in advance by the supervisor.
