Training opportunities are open to all faculty and staff of Central Washington University. Although some classes are restricted to a specific position or employee group, all employees are welcome to participate with prior approval from the instructor or the HR Professional Development team.

This class is designed for faculty members who need an introduction or brief review of the items they have available in Campus Solutions. These include student class schedules, Academic Requirements Reports, unofficial transcripts, transfer credit information, class roster, final exam schedule, recording final grades, etc.

This class is designed for staff members who need to run reports or queries in Campus Solutions.
This class is designed for staff members who enter information into Campus Solutions regarding student advisors as well as majors/minors/specializations.
This class is designed for staff members who need to enter students' final grades.
This class is designed for staff members who need to identify students who should be put into a particular student group. Students may be put into a student group for a variety of reasons (i.e. registration purposes, financial aid packaging purposes, etc.). A student may be active in more than one student group at a time. The department that uses that student group is responsible for maintaining the group for accuracy.
This class is designed for beginning employees who need instruction in basic Administrative System navigation.
This class is designed to provide detailed instructions to staff and faculty on running specific monthly/year-end reports in the Financial Management System. It assumes that the user is already familiar with navigating in the Financial Management System (content covered in the Systems 101 class). Information to be covered in FMS 105 includes Chapter 5 of the Financial Management System Guide.
This class provides hands-on practice in running end user queries in the Financial Management System. It assumes that the user is already familiar with navigating in the Financial Management System (content covered in the Systems 101 class). Information to be covered includes Chapter 6 of the Financial Management System Guide.
The iCAT Online Purchase Requisition module is live in the Financial Management system. The project team has taken the current paper-based requisition process to a simplified electronic process. The new process will streamline purchasing items for departments. The electronic workflow will eliminate the need to route and track paper requisitions. The new eProcurement Purchase Requisition system module will streamline the review, approval, and the creation of requisitions.
This class is designed for beginning employees who need instruction in basic Administrative System navigation.
This course provides training on the process in utilizing the online system for travel authorizations and travel expense reports.
cAPPS training will offer a hands-on experience for all supervisors on campus. Supervisors will be able to login to a test environment, navigate to different pages under Manager Self Service, and initiate transactions on their employees. Some of the transactions that can be initiated through Manager Self Service include the following: requesting a Reporting Change, Transferring an Employee, Retiring an Employee, Terminating an Employee, requesting Additional Pay, Requesting a New Position and Requesting a Position Change. There will be an opportunity for questions and comments.

Have you ever thought about how you would react if a hostile intruder were to enter your office or classroom? Although the potential for such an event at CWU has been mitigated through a multitude of proactive preventative security measures, no University in the country is 100% secure. The Emergency Preparedness Planning and Responding to a Hostile Intruder two-hour workshop is designed to provide all faculty and staff more awareness of CWU's response capabilities and answer questions about what you should do in an emergency.
The workshop incorporates CWU's Emergency Plan, and the police and community response to a hostile intruder. This workshop will also give you a wealth of information about safety on campus, personal safety techniques, and other important information. Per the President's Advisory Council - approved Training and Development Policy 2-2.75 (9) 3, all faculty and staff must attend this workshop.
Preventing Sexual Harassment & Diversity for All Employees
While sexual harassment has commanded much of the media's attention, inappropriate behavior at work goes far beyond gender issues. Everyone has the right to be treated fairly at work and not to be made to feel uncomfortable there. Managing the workplace to either minimize or eliminate inappropriate workplace behaviors is not an easy chore. But it is a chore we should all take seriously and practice reverently. Consequently, the first step begins with each of us.
What distinguishes this class from others is its positive message. It is not about pointing fingers and assigning blame-we all share responsibility for preventing and stopping inappropriate workplace behavior. It isn't an easy task. Working together, however, we can make great progress towards creating workplaces where all staff and faculty feel safe, valued, and free to do their best work. In addition to the objectives learned from the one-hour Preventing Inappropriate Workplace Behavior class, this program will help employees:
This online course will help you understand and know more about Title IX. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. CWU is committed to providing a learning, working and living environment that promotes personal integrity, civility and mutual respect in an environment free of sexual misconduct and discrimination. Sexual discrimination violates an individual's fundamental rights and personal dignity. CWU considers sexual discrimination in all its forms to be a serious offense. This resource refers to all forms of sexual discrimination, including: sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual violence by employees, students, or third parties.
The workshop is a multi-faceted ally development session. Participants will be engaged in interactive exercises and discussions which will identify key aspects of healthy and respectful allyship as well as expose ways in which individuals within the LGBTQ communities are silenced and oppressed.Outcomes of Workshop
This workshop provides opportunity for participants to take a deeper look at the aspects of being an ally to the LGBTQIA community. Participants will increase their understanding of best practices of allyship, as well as engage in interactive discussions and exercises.Once individuals have completed both the Safe Space Training and the Ally workshop they will receive our Safe Space Placard.
Transgender 101 is a one and half hour workshop designed to educate participants on the topic of gender diversity. It speaks to the differences between sex and gender and allows participants to learn about the flexibility of gender in today's society.
Leadership Development for Supervisors is a 2-day, 16 hour program for supervisors that includes what is required by the university and Washington State for supervisors to complete within the first 6 months of becoming supervisors. The topics are but not limited to:
This 8-hr training, designed for people in supervisory roles, will assist you in working with employees around job performance corrective processes, addressing workplace bullying and negativity, enhancing your ability to communicate effectively even in high stress situations and building an effective team environment in your workplace. It will both be strengths based, learning from others what they have done that has been effective, and skills training with a focus on hands on participation. Come have fun, learn/polish skills for dealing with conflict and building a more productive workplace!
The CWU New Employee Welcome (NEW) is designed to welcome new staff, share information on services, benefits, and programs, and assist with your transition within the CWU community.
The hands-on class will be using a new state-of-the-art fire extinguisher training system. If you've ever wondered how to actually use that fire extinguisher hanging on the wall next to your office (or that extinguisher on the shelf in your garage or kitchen) please come to the training. Mr. Seemiller will also discuss the most prominent campus fire safety issues and answer any and all questions you might have about fire safety.
