Foundational Goals for 2017-18

Focus on Performance Management

ePerformance brings the opportunity to integrate a well-crafted and vital performance management system at CWU. This focus includes transition assistance and training as well as the establishment of customer-specific tools and strategies. It costs a large amount of resource to respond to issues related to the lack of performance management. With this focus, the hope is that we will shift the focus to prevention.

Improve LinkedIn Presence

Studies show that the identification and recruitment of qualified and diverse applicants for all positions is dependent upon one-on-one connections. To that end, every HR employee at CWU is expected to develop, maintain, and utilize a quality LinkedIn page.

Overhaul HR Website

HR needs a website that meets the information needs of our customers.

Operational/Transactional/Legally Mandated HR Functions

HR's foundational responsibilities include compliance with federal and state rules and regulations, including benefits, EO, labor relations, and employment law. These areas are managed through effective policies, procedures, and practices. Best practice in the HR field suggests that operation and transactional aspects of HR must be handled efficiently and comprehensively. Regardless of the other work we do, "...the trains still need to run on time." This also means ensuring that HR information technology provides relevant data for decision making and for strategic analysis.

This particular focus supports the accomplishment of each and every one of the core themes of the CWU strategic plan. All employees rely on HR to manager the functions of benefits, compliance, safety and workers' compensation, labor and employee relations, compensation, etc. Of special mention, HR's responsibility for EO, AA and nondiscrimination sets the basic legal foundation and baseline assurances for inclusiveness and diversity.
