1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

1:00 - 1:25 p.m. BLACK 152Canvas or Blackboard? The Final Decision
Presenter: Chris Schedler

This session will be devoted to the evaluation of our Spring and Summer Canvas learning management system pilot, including results from the faculty and student satisfaction surveys, and an opportunity for faculty to get information on the final decision and migration process. Faculty who have developed pilot courses will be on hand to share their experiences teaching with Canvas.

Cookies and coffee will be available.

1:30 - 1:55 p.m. BLACK 152 : Using Wikis for Multimedia Student Research Projects
Presenter: Stefanie Wickstrom

This presentation will aid faculty in developing learning objectives, instructional techniques, and resource materials for multimedia student research projects created using Wikis in upper-division courses. Both Blackboard and Canvas learning management tools will be discussed.

Cookies and coffee will be available.

2:00 - 2:30 p.m. BLACK 152: Providing Meaningful, Timely, and Targeted Instructional Feedback through Screencasting

Presenter: Joe Johnson

Although faculty often provide office consultations and detailed comments on writing assignments, many students fail to profit from this feedback. Screencasting offers a timely alternative to face-to-face meetings, while enhancing the instructional impact of written/typed comments on papers. Screencasting can be used for face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and online courses...and, your students might even thank you for using it.

Cookies and coffee will be available.

2:40 - 3:50 p.m. BLACK 152: High Impact Practices (HIPs)
Various Presenters
HIPs are those which have been shown to have substantial educational benefits - particularly positive influences on student success.  This session will introduce participants to HIPs and why they matter.  Specific examples of successful HIPs at CWU will be highlighted and information on how to get involved will be shared.

Cookies and coffee will be available.
