Peer Mentors help acclimate new Appointing Authorities

What is Executive Immersion Program?

The Executive Immersion Program is the second tier of the CWU Onboarding Process. The first tier is the New Employee Ambassador Program, which provides new staff with a welcome, first day logistics, and ongoing support. The second tier provides additional support for Appointing Authorities during their first 90 days by pairing new executives with peer mentors, providing context, and identifying key relationships.

Why are Executive Immersions important?
Central Washington University’s culture is based on relationships, face-to-face interactions, and a strong sense of community. Executive Immersions connect new, interim, and newly promoted Appointing Authorities to the CWU and Ellensburg communities. A successful immersion improves engagement, cross-departmental collaboration, and retention.

According to The Wynhurst Group, employees who participated in a structured onboarding program were 58% more likely to stay with the company more than three years.

How do I get started?
The great news is you don’t need to do anything to get started. When we begin a search for a new Appointing Authority, the Talent Acquisition team within HR will reach out to the hiring authority or supervisor to start the process and appoint a peer mentor. The Onboarding team can also modify the program for use with new Board of Trustees, Alumni Board, and Foundation Board members, as requested.
