Those nominating Ashbrooks said:
Steve Ashbrooks, information technology specialist, telecommunications, is the real 'cable guy.' Ashbrooks is the ace installer who makes sure that the miles and miles of cable required for Central's information superhighway are correctly routed through a complex maze of new and old buildings. In nominating him for the award, a colleague wrote: "I have had the opportunity to see Steve go the extra mile for us here at CWU. He had to get three different telecom wiring projects in teaching spaces ready for classes to start this past fall quarter. These projects required follow up and coordination with the facilities management staff, off campus contractors for installing cabling, and information technology staff to have these spaces ready. I have found that when things need to be done quickly and . . . when unplanned events happen, Steve is always willing to step up to meet the need with a can-do "[Git-R-done]" attitude. "Steve is conscientious, helpful and an outstanding problem solver," according to another nominator. "He has a strong commitment to customer service backed with knowledge and expertise in his field. He maintains a positive attitude in the most challenging of circumstances. Steve goes well beyond the call of duty to assure that telecom services are provided in a cost effective, timely, and professional manner. "Steve Ashbrooks is a very skilled, dedicated, hard working technician and truly gives great customer service to our CWU user community."
