Procedures and Information for CWU Residence Hall Reapplication

Living Learning Communities (LLC) and Theme Houses

The process for choosing a room in a living learning community or theme community in Al-Monty, Barto, Beck, Kamola, Kennedy, Meisner, Sparks, Sue Lombard, or Wendell Hill Hall, is slightly different than for the other residence halls. If you would like to be involved in the following Living Learning Communities: Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA), Aviation, Casa Latina, Douglas Honors College, Education, Leadership, Music, Science Talent Expansion Program (STEP), or Students for the Dream; or the following Theme Communities: International House, Recreation and Sustainability, or Women's Experience next year you are required to:

  • Complete the LLC/Theme questionnaire
  • Acquire a faculty/staff signature from the applicable academic areas
  • Submit them to University Housing in Button hall by noon on February 8, 2013.

 

If you choose not to reside in the designated LLC area, you can apply for an open space during same hall/different room signup on Thursday, February 14 or during the different hall on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 20-22, in order of lottery number. Remember, you must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA to live in Kamola Hall if you do NOT participate in an LLC.

LLC/Theme Community Same Hall/Same Room - Monday, February 11 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Students wishing to remain in his/her current room that is of the designated area for an LLC or Theme community must also participate in the LLC/Theme Community next year. If you wish to remain in a room that is not part of an LLC/Theme Community next year, you may do so; however, you will not be part of the upper class LLC/Theme Community and you have to sign up during the same hall - different room application on Feb. 14.

ROOMMATE PREFERENCE: The same room application allows you to choose only your current roommates.

ALL Other LLC/Theme Community Requests - Tuesday, February 12 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you are looking for a different room in the same hall or a different residence hall, then mark you calendars for Tuesday, February 12, beginning at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

ROOMMATE PREFERENCE: If you have a roommate(s) preference, please complete the Roommate Preference section on your web-based contract. Your requested roommate(s) will also be required to sign-up at the appropriate lottery time as outlined. If he/she does not sign up by April 1, 2013 the space will no longer be reserved. If you have a roommate preference and this student does not live on campus, a complete contract needs to be sent to University Housing by April 1, 2013. If a completed room and board application is not on file by April 1, 2013 the space is no longer reserved. LLC/Theme Community participants living in a 3-person room and requesting roommates are allowed only one non-LLC roommate.  

All Residence Halls Except LLC and Theme Houses

 

Same Hall/Same Room - Wednesday, February 13 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you want to stay in your current room, just submit your application for you room and board on our web site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13. In Al-Monty, Barto, Beck, Kamola, Kennedy, Meisner, Sue Lombard, and Wendell Hill Hall Living Learning Communities (LLC)/Theme Communities, students wishing to remain in their current rooms are designated as an LLC/Theme Community room must also participate in the LLC/Theme Community next year. (See procedures for Living Learning Community/Theme Community applications up above.) If you wish to remain in the LLC/Theme Community residence halls but do not wish to participate in an LLC/Theme Community, you are able to apply for a room in the same hall, different room sign up period. Students living in Kamola and not participating in an LLC MUST have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

ROOMMATE PREFERENCE: The same room application does not give roommate options.

Same Hall/Different Room - Thursday, February 14 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you want a different room in the same residence hall, or do not wish to participate in an LLC/Theme Community next year you may choose a room at this time. However, remember there are designated areas that are reserves for the LLC/Theme Communities. (Students wishing to participate in an LLC/Theme Community need to follow the procedures for LLC/Theme Community signup.)

ROOMMATE PREFERENCE: See paragraph under All Other LLC/Theme Community Requests

Program Changes - Tuesday, February 19 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Occasionally programs and specific rooms change for the upcoming year. This means that students may not be able to apply for certain rooms. Students living in one of these rooms will receive a letter from University Housing informing them of this change. They will be eligible to choose a room beginning at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19.

ROOMMATE PREFERENCE: See paragraph under All Other LLC/Theme Community Requests.

Different Residence Hall - Wednesday, February 20 through Friday, February 22

Students wishing to live in a different residence hall will have the opportunity to choose a specific room or suit beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20 through Friday, February 22. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO CHOOSE A ROOM IN ORDER OF THEIR LOTTERY NUMBER AND ACCORDING TO THE SCHEDULE. YOU MAY CHECK YOUR LOTTERY NUMBER AND SCHEDULE HERE. If you have any questions, please call University Housing at 963-1831.

ROOMMATE PREFERENCE: See paragraph under All Other LLC/Theme Community Requests.

Remember, you may go through this process once. If you wish to change rooms or roommates, you may do so beginning on Monday, February 25, 2013.
