Music LLC Location - Alford-Montgomery Hall

General Description of the LLC:

Students with declared or anticipated major/minor in music or have an interest in music enrichment are eligible. Programs in past years have included visiting the Spokane Symphony, attending the musical Rent in Seattle, taking special lessons in Taiko (Japanese drumming), and participating in vocal performances on campus.

Music Mission Statement:

The Music LLC provides residence hall students an opportunity to interact with faculty outside of the classroom. Formal and informal activities are designed to enrich each student's musical/academic learning opportunity. An emphasis will be placed on fostering a supportive atmosphere that is sympathetic to the rigors of the musical curriculum.

Learning Outcomes/Goals:
Freshman Year - Fundamentals

  • Develop fundamentals in the area of music theory.
  • Establish strong practice habits.
  • Explore a wide variety of musical styles.

Sophomore Year – Growth and Refinement

  • Refine and perfect practice and study habits.
  • Explore musical career paths and networking/promotional skills.
  • Sharing: bringing music to the community.

Junior/Senior Year – Leadership

  • Facilitate quality programs that encourage faculty involvement and promote positive academic growth.
  • Highlighting strengths and successes of the LLC to promote active future membership and greater community awareness.
  • Maintain consistent communication to evaluate and assess the goals of the program toward positive outcomes.

Applying to the Music LLC:

Students who are interested in joining the Music LLC first must receive permission from the Music Department within the College of Arts and Humanities.
