August 23, 2019, Ellensburg, Wash. – Housing and Residence adds to their talented team three new coordinator positions with the addition of Pam Gonzales Wheeler, Kayla Lohorn, and Doris Torres. Pam Gonzales Wheeler is the new Area Coordinator for Diversity & Equity. Kayla Lohorn is the New Area Coordinator for First Year Experience. Doris Torres is the new Marketing Coordinator for Housing.
Pam Gonzales comes to us from Seattle University with a background in Residence Life and a focus on diversity and equity training. In this role she will be supervising, coaching and training Residence Hall Coordinators how to better serve all students in the residence halls with equity and inclusivity. Director of Residence Life, Ian Miller, said, “It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to have Pam in the position which directly supervises our live-in staff and supports our department’s dedication and University’s commitment to diversity.”
Kayla comes to us from being a Residence Hall Coordinator here at Central. Her new role will focus on developing and maintaining programing and education for first year students and provide support and leadership to Residence Hall Coordinators. Director of Residence Life, Ian Miller, said “I am excited to be able to see Kayla grow and develop from a Residence Hall Coordinator to an Area Coordinator. Kayla will also be focused on supporting the first-year experience of our students which continues to be a priority of our department and the University.
Doris comes to us from the Student Union as an Office Assistant 3. Her background focused in campaign management, event coordination and recruitment. She worked in multi-lingual campaigns and specialized in internal and community relations. Assistant Director of Housing Services, Lisa LaPlant says, “I am so excited to have Doris apart of our Housing and Residence Life team. She brings so much experience, energy and depth to our team with her combined experience in higher education from working at CWU for the past two years and with her previous marketing and communication experience from Dental Health Services. She has already contributed so much since starting with us and I can’t wait to see where this year leads.”
Housing and Residence Life is so enthusiastic about the leadership we will have in the upcoming school year. As this department develops and grows, we are excited to see the work and vision these coordinators create will move the team forward.
