Alumnus Named New Executive Director for CWU Housing and Residence Life

Tricia Rabel had dreamed about bringing together both the Central Washington University housing and residence life departments. She will now have the chance to make that a reality.

Following a national search, the university hired Rabel as its new executive director for housing and residence life. She is tasked with setting the vision and developing team leadership for both CWU housing and residence life. She assumed her new position on June 18.

“Living on campus at Central is transformative to a student’s experience,” said Rabel. “I am honored to have been chosen to work with such talented professionals in Housing and Residence Life to serve our campus community.”

Rabel, has served as director of housing operations and marketing since 2016, where she had been instrumental in increasing student occupancy, streamlining processes, and building community.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have someone with Tricia Rabel’s experience and skills joining us at Central,” said Jenna Hyatt, CWU associate dean for student living. “In addition to being familiar with housing operations, marketing, capital projects and residence life, she brings a history of developing and fostering collaborative relationships with students, faculty and staff.”

Rabel has 15 years of experience serving as a higher education administrator in university housing, student involvement, student conduct and leadership programs in Washington, Nebraska, and Montana.

Rabel received her bachelor’s degree in information technology and administrative management from CWU and a master’s in organizational leadership from College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. She is currently a candidate for her doctorate from Creighton University, also in Omaha.
