Prerequisite Courses

The following courses are the most commonly required by physical therapy schools as prerequisites. Students should always check their prerequisite classes against their top choices of schools, as schools do vary by requirement.

  • BIOL 181, 182, 183 (General Biology)
  • CHEM 181, 182, 183 (General Chemistry)
  • MATH 153 (Pre-Calculus) *Math 153 is a prerequisite to CHEM 183
  • MATH 311 (or BIO 213 or PSY 362) *Math 130 is a prerequisite to MATH 311 & PSY 362
  • BIOL 355 & 356 (Human Anatomy and Physiology)
  • BIOL 322, 323, 354 OR 320 (check by school)
  • PHYS 111, 112, 113 (Introductory Physics)
  • PSY 101 (Psychology)
    One other upper division Psychology course, such as PSY 313

Students must usually select another Behavioral Sciences course in addition to Psychology, such as:

  • SOC 107 (Principlesof Sociology)
  • ANTH 110 (Biological Anthropology)
