Pre-Occupational Therapy Application Process

Students wishing to apply to Occupational Therapy School should make sure to do the following:

  • Earn a high GPA. A minimum of a 3.0 and no grade lower than a B in any prerequisite class. Actual GPA's for successful admissions are usually much higher than a 3.0.
  • Make formal application online to OTCAS at
  • Take the GRE (Graduate Records Exam) taken by January 1st of application year.
  • Document voluntary or work experience of at least 40 hours with persons with disabilities. A portion of these hours must be shadowing an Occupational Therapist in at least two different practices. You will be required to submit a letter of reference from a registered Occupational Therapist who has observed you in a health care setting long enough to make a fair appraisal about your promise.
