Students interested in pursuing pre-medicine must have significant time spent volunteering if they wish to be competitive candidates for medical school. Students may choose to apply to become a volunteer at many different locations or hospitals, but some that are close to the Ellensburg campus are Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, Ellensburg community Health Clinic, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, and Yakima Regional Medical & Cardiac Center. Students interested in pursuing volunteer opportunities at these locations can find more information below. Please note that volunteers will have to submit to TB testing as well as provide documentation of immunizations.

Placement at KVCH depends on openings and availability of staff to train students. After students are placed, they can remain as long as they continue to participate and/or until they graduate from CWU.
To be considered for the program, students must contact Karen Schock at 509-962-7322. Students will be required to take some basic education courses through KVCH. More information can be found here.
