Required at Most Dental Schools

The following courses are the most commonly required by dental schools as prerequisites. Students should always check their prerequisite classes against their top choices of schools, as schools do vary by requirement. Students should take the corresponding labs with each course.

  • CHEM 181, 182, 183  (General Chemistry)
  • CHEM 361, 362, 363 (Organic Chemistry)
  • BIOL 181, 182, 183  (General Biology)
  • PHYS 181, 182, 183 (General Physics)
Required at Some Dental Schools
  • CHEM 431, 432 (Biochemistry)
  • Math 171, 172 (Calculus)
  • BIOL 323 (Microbiology)
  • One additional quarter of Microbiology, such as BIOL 426 (Medical Microbiology)
  • Histology
  • Human Psychology
