The CWU orchestra has been selected to perform at this year's NAfME Northwest Division conference in Portland. The NAfME Northwest accepted performance applications from six Northwest states: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Only a select few groups are chosen to perform at the conference, so it is quite an honor for our orchestra to receive this invitation. Once again I must say that this invitation is an external confirmation that our orchestra is one of the best university orchestras in the Northwest and is quickly making a name for itself nationally.

The music department has received invitations from the Jazz Educators Network (JEN, former IAJE) for the Jazz Combo 1 AND Vocal Jazz 1 to perform at this year's conference in Atlanta. That's correct, TWO groups representing CWU! This is the second year in a row that CWU will be represented at this national conference, this is quite an honor!

In addition, this is the second national invitation the vocal jazz group has received in the past three years (ACDA in Chicago two years ago) and the second year in a row for the instrumental side of our jazz program. This seems to be a clear indication that our jazz program has distinguished itself as one of the best programs in the country. This is a fact that we are all aware of, but its always reassuring to have the validation with these prestigious invitations.

The Vocal Jazz 1 ensemble received an invitation to perform at the Jazz Educators network (JEN) conference in Atlanta, GA this January. This is the second year in a row that CWU will be represented at this national conference. because these invitations are competitive nation wide, this is quite an honor.

In addition, this is the second national invitation the vocal jazz group has received in the past three years (ACDA in Chicago two years ago). This seems to be a clear indication that the CWU Jazz program has distinguished itself as one of the best programs (if not the best) in the country.
