Over 300 high school students attended CWU’s 13th annual World Languages Day, held Friday, May 13, on the CWU campus. Participating high schoolers from all over the region enjoyed workshops ranging from Folk Dances and Russian Music to American Sign Languages Poetry and French theater.

CWU alum Benjamin Rooney/Stürmer ('05) offered a compelling keynote talk about his time studying abroad in Japan and the subsequent ten years he spent in Germany attending graduate school and working as a computer programmer. Stürmer emphasized the importance of learning additional languages and cultures and illustrated how such studies can have impact in profound and satisfying ways. Visiting students also had opportunities to meet with faculty from the World Languages Department as well as many current CWU students, all of whom participated and gave generously of their time performing, answering questions, and serving as guides. It was a wonderful day!
