Principles of acquisition, analysis, and use of remotely sensed data (LANDSAT, LIDAR, etc.) to analyze biophysical and cultural patterns and issues. Emphasis on training and use of digital imaging processing software.
Knowledge and Skills Developed:
- Learn the theory and methodological techniques required for utilizing data acquired by airborne and space-based remote sensing platforms.
- Understand the principles of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), nature and properties of EMR interfacing with Earth’s surface and atmosphere.
- Learn how to acquire, analyze, and present data using digital image interpretation and processing, image enhancement and data extraction, multispectral systems.
- Apply these data to a variety of biophysical and social applications.
