It has been said that information is the antidote to fear. Geographic information is a powerful tool to better understand the factors that make some neighborhoods more dangerous than others, to better deploy police officers and other security personnel to protect citizens and their property, to formulate strategy at the national and international scales. Across the county, graduates with skills in GIS and remote sensing have found jobs with the FBI, CIA, and many large police departments.
