Craig Revels is a broadly trained historical-cultural geographer specializing in the landscapes and peoples of Central America. His diverse research interests focus on the analysis of cultural landscapes at multiple scales, with emphasis on the intersection between economy, culture, and environment. His doctoral research examined the development of the mahogany trade in Honduras, and the historical geography of Honduras remains one of his primary research interests. He has also published research on topics ranging from coffee in Nicaragua to urban landscape change, and is currently conducting research on African oil palm cultivation and colonial administration and settlement, both in Honduras.  With long ties to the western United States, he is also interested in cultural landscape change in the Pacific Northwest, especially the impacts of resource and commodity production over time.

Dr. Revels teaches World Regional Geography and Introduction to Human Geography, two of the department's core courses, as well as upper-division courses in the geography of Middle America, food and agriculture, and seminars exploring a wide array of topics and themes.
