Allison Shinn

Allison Shinn was born and raised in the greater Seattle area and she grew up hiking, biking, skiing and other outdoor activities gaining a love for the outdoors and the beauty of nature. After receiving her high school diploma, she then moved to Ellensburg, WA to pursue a degree in Geography. She graduated from Central Washington University in June of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, Environmental Studies Minor and a Geographic Information System (GIS) Certificate from Central Washington University. Allison is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Urban and Environmental Planning (MUEP) and a Certificate in Transportation Planning. Her specific focus is on Transportation Planning looking at creating better public transportation as well as creating walkable and bike friendly infrastructure to create more sustainable and lively communities. Before beginning her studies at Arizona State University Allison gained experience in the transportation planning field working for CH2MHILL in Honolulu, HI working on the Honolulu Rail Project and other projects. For Honolulu Rail Project she worked on Geographic Information System (GIS) projects and helped to create 404/401 permits as well as attending meetings with local agencies and other consultants. Through this experience she gained a passion for transportation projects, specifically rail projects, and wished to continue her education studying urban planning. Allison wishes to pursue a career in transportation planning in either the public or private sector after graduating from her master’s program.
