Assessment Framework

CWU general education requirements were deemed by the NWCCU in its 2009 comprehensive evaluation committee report to "conform to accreditation standards" and was noted as being "thoughtfully designed." The breadth requirements in the CWU general education program were believed to be "robust, logically structured, and cohesive and allowing student options for a meaningful level of personalization of general education choices."

Although the scope of the CWU general education program was thought "attractive in the framework of liberal arts training," there is a need to assess its efficacy and effectiveness for impacting student learning and assuring continuous improvement of the curricular and teaching process. The following information and links on this page are meant to explain and describe those processes of assessment for general education.
