Duties & Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned): Coordinate twice-weekly advice clinics by scheduling appointments for clients to meet with attorneys. Participate in the coordination of the legal services provided by the VAS with the delivery of legal services provided by Columbia Legal Services, Northwest Justice Project, CLEAR, Chelan-Douglas County Community Action Council, the Court Facilitator, and the Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Crisis Center, And other providers of legal services. Evaluate client needs, present clients with various options, provide information and make referrals when appropriate to other legal services providers. Screen prospective clients for participation in programs provided by VAS, Respond to general inquiries regarding program services. Have, or have the ability to acquire, familiarity with laws, legal procedures, and community resources. Conduct follow up with clients and collect information and their experience with VAS. Keep records of all client contacts and update client files in a timely fashion. Maintain a library of materials that will be useful to clients utilizing the services of the VAS. Develop programs to publicize the services provided by the VAS. Participate in the promotion and implementation of the Housing Justice Project, a homelessness prevention project that helps eligible low-income tenants Friday mornings. Assist in the efforts to recognize and thank volunteer attorneys assisting VAS clients. Participate in the coordination and implementation of special events, including continuing legal education trainings and fundraisers.
