Where: Early Childhood Learning Center
This free event provides a safe place for children while parents and guardians can spend quality time with spouses, partners, friends or even by themselves!
The Family Resource Center (FRC), Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC), and Family Studies programs at Central Washington University have joined forces to offer support services for CWU student-parents. The first in a new series of collaborations designed to support student-parents, these entities are working together to present three “Parent’s Night Out” events during the spring quarter.
“Parent’s Night Out” will offer free childcare to CWU student-parents with children ages 1 month – 8 years of age through the Central Washington University Rainbow and Early Childhood Learning Center on three nights throughout the spring quarter: April 15, May 13, and June 3. On these nights, student-parents may drop off their children from 5:45 – 8:30pm at Rainbow (ages 1 month – 2 years) and/or ECLC (2 – 8 years) and enjoy a night out.
The FRC is sponsoring the event, the ECLC is hosting the event, and the Family Studies program is providing students to staff the event through a service learning project as part of its “FS 336 – Parent Education and Guidance” course. As part of their course work, students in this course will be required to go through training about appropriate childcare practices, work the events, and provide attendees with educational materials on parenting.
