About me: My research is focused on informing prevention and early intervention with at-risk families in order to promote healthy child development. I specifically study the experience of unplanned pregnancy and ways in which it influences couple relationships and coparenting during the transition to parenthood. I am also interested in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of interventions delivered to underserved, multistressed families. My research interests are informed by my clinical experiences. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in Washington. I'm also involved in conducting research to assess the efficacy of child life services to promote healthy child and parent outcomes during child hospitalization. I'm interested in the experiences of children and their families in the hospital and work to promote family- and child-centered. I serve as the director of the Family Resource Center, and in that role facilitate parenting education groups and conduct family-related research. I'm the director of the undergraduate and graduate Family and Child Life programs, so please contact me with any questions about the programs. I love working at CWU! I moved here in 2014 from Tallahassee, Florida. I grew up in Oregon and love being back in the Northwest and close to family. In my spare time, I love exploring this incredible region by hiking, camping, and kayaking with my partner, two little boys, and sweet dog. |
