Professor of English 

Dr. Cynthia Pengilly has interdisciplinary degrees in information technology (B.S.), technical and professional communication (M.S.), and rhetoric/textual studies (Ph.D.). Before joining CWU in Fall 2017, she taught technology-themed special topics courses in writing and literature, directed a university writing center, and worked in industry as a programmer, web designer, and technical writer. She is keenly interested in the rhetoric and culture of technology especially as it pertains to online synchronous tutoring, online writing instruction (OWI), writing in the disciplines (WID), and service learning for technical writing.

Cynthia's teaching interests include Digital Pedagogy, Visual and Cultural Rhetorics, Technical Writing, and Writing Centers.
