Professor of English 
 

Dr. Cynthia Pengilly has interdisciplinary degrees in information technology (B.S.), technical and professional communication (M.S.), and rhetoric/textual studies (Ph.D.). Before joining CWU in Fall 2017, she taught technology-themed special topics courses in writing and literature, directed a university writing center, and worked in industry as a programmer, web designer, and technical writer. Her research explores the intersections of rhetoric and technology culture especially as it pertains to online spaces: online writing instruction (OWI) and occluded pedagogical genres and interfaces.

Cynthia's teaching interests include cultural rhetorics, visual rhetoric and information design, and Technical Writing.
