Safety and Health Management: Organizations

Advisory Council Link

There are many opportunities for students to participate in professional organizations on and off campus. Our advisory board includes members of these professional organizations who are often guest speakers in our classes. Membership in these professional organizations is not a requirement. However, job opportunities are often made available through networking with other members.

There are several professional certification organizations relating to safety and health practice. Many job opportunities have professional certification as a condition of employment or as a hiring preference.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals is the organization that manages the Certified Safety Professional (CSP).  The American Board of Industrial Hygiene is the organization that oversees the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Please stay tuned to this page for information regarding the CWU Student Section of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
