Harrington, program coordinator for Student Financial Services, was named Employee of the Month for May.
Her first nominator, a student’s parent, said, “I would like to recognize Doreen Harrington for her upbeat and personalized way of working with patrons . . . My husband and I recently visited with Doreen while attending CWU’s Discover Orientation with our daughter. Doreen was a wealth of information for us and had that friendly aura about her that made us comfortable asking questions. This, in turn, helped us to really focus on the financial aid posted to our daughter’s account. Doreen gave us her business card and encouraged us to follow up with her . . . CWU is very fortunate to have such a people-oriented and knowledgeable person working in the Financial Aid Office. Hats off to you, Doreen!"
Another parent said, “My son is a student at [CWU]. From the start, Doreen has been there to answer all my questions regarding [financial aid]. And I have had a lot of questions. Doreen explains the answers to my questions in a way that is very easy to understand. If I leave her a message, she is very quick to respond. Doreen is very friendly, personable, knowledgeable, [and] patient. I have told many of my family and friends about Doreen and how helpful she has been. She made such a great first impression on me that I have since used her as my go-to person for college financial questions I have.”
