Chapman-Stockwell, content development writer for Public Affairs, was named June Employee of the Month.
Her nominators wrote: “Val writes for the university website, publications, and news releases, which requires her to frequently interview people all across campus. “In addition, she is solely responsible for writing, graphic layout, development, and distribution of the University Bulletin. Her writing is clean and compelling and her editing makes the work of others much better."
“She also is responsible for media relations—working with reporters who are developing stories about CWU and, in some cases, pitching stories to them. Inevitably, many of the positive stories you see, hear, or read about CWU in the media throughout the state (and beyond) can be directly tied to her efforts."
“She is also an accomplished photographer, whose photos are often used here. While the quality and quantity of her work is excellent, it is her friendly manner and can-do spirit that further set her apart."
“Val is absolutely invaluable to me and is a key member of the Public Affairs staff.” She has worked at Central for more than seven years. Previously, she was an information specialist for Harborview Medical Center, a science writer for the University of Washington School of Medicine, and reporter for the Northern Kittitas County Tribune.
