Those nominating Kendra said:
September's Employee of the Month, Kendra Sterkel, program coordinator for Aerospace Studies, facilitates the overall office management and university coordination of the Air Force ROTC program. According to her nominators, Kendra goes above and beyond standard work performance with superior customer service. "For example, on June 12, 2010, the Air Force ROTC program celebrated the commissioning of eight cadets into the Air Force as Second Lieutenants. This was a complex event which included planning meals, room space, entertainment, invitations, and technological support. Among those attending were family members from New Zealand and a Distinguished Senior Air Force Officer from Fairchild Air Force Base. "She helped one student have his mother, an active duty officer in Kuwait, attend the ceremony via SKYPE, and organized the technical support that allowed the cadet to be sworn in by her. "Kendra also helped coordinate funding so four cadets could travel to the National Character and Leadership Symposium at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. "Kendra is active in community events - she organized an auction which raised $10,000 for the Miss Rodeo USA contestant's living expenses. "Kendra is detail-oriented, focusing on the needs of the two diverse entities she serves, the Air Force and CWU. Most of all, she treats everyone who enters our office with friendliness and respect. New students who are interested in our program meet Kendra."
