The purpose of this business case is to obtain approval and endorsement for acquiring a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool for Central Washington University. Project Portfolio Management tools provide a formalized framework to prioritize and track various types of work (projects, work requests, issues), improve communication, and provide the transparency of performance needed by executive management and business sponsors. The main benefits of implementing a PPM tool will be visibility of work being done, resource allocation and planning, and other key information which can be used to ensure that resources are focused on work that provides the greatest value and contributes to the strategic goals. Initial requirements have been gathered from potential users and some vendor research has been completed. This business case is recommending a Software as a Service (SaaS) or hosted solution for Project Portfolio Management (PPM). If approval to proceed is granted, requirements will be finalized, vendor selection narrowed and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process will be followed.
