For over thirty years, the William O. Douglas Honors College (DHC) has challenged students to reach their potential as writers, readers, speakers, and critical thinkers.
Building on that tradition of academic excellence, the DHC began offering an innovative and exciting new curriculum in fall 2009. Students can now take special honors courses to satisfy Central’s general education requirements. Courses are interdisciplinary and are taught by professors from throughout the university. Junior and senior students, including advanced transfer students, can then pursue mentored research in either the Arts & Humanities or the Sciences.
The DHC has all of the advantages of a select liberal arts college in a large university setting. With small class sizes, our students receive personal attention from some of our most accomplished professors, teachers who are eager to work with Central's best students. Participants in the honors college form close relationships that extend well beyond their time at Central. Our graduates are accepted to top-tier graduate programs and law schools, and are employed in a variety of fields.
The new curriculum is being recognized by honors educators from throughout the United States, and the DHC is quickly becoming a destination for the best and brightest students in the Northwest.
