Dr. Geraldine O'Mahony
Geraldine O'Mahony's path to becoming the Associate Director of the Douglas Honors College here at CWU has been a long, winding and complicated one, with many odd twists and turns along the way. Geraldine was born and raised in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, in the Republic of Ireland and is happy to share her love of all things Irish, particularly tea, and an innate affinity for potatoes. She is the first member of her family to finish high school and go to college, first going to Cambridge University to study Theology and Religious Studies, then Edinburgh University for a Masters in Divinity, McGill University for a Masters in Islamic Studies, and finally the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a Masters in Political Science and a Ph.D. in Development Studies with a focus on African politics and religion. In between collecting degrees, Geraldine studied at a number of other institutions, including Dartmouth College where she met her wife, Lacy. They are expecting their first child in January--yay! Geraldine has also worked as an auxiliary nurse in conflict and post-conflict zones such as Bosnia; nursed in hospitals, orphanages and refugee camps in Eastern and Southern Africa; and has taught and worked in schools and museums in various countries in the Middle East. She once thought about being a tree surgeon but quickly realized that her future lay elsewhere. Geraldine loves to travel and wants to learn how to fly, as it should make traveling easier.

A first-generation college student, Christina Denison is a Wildcat through and through having earned both her Bachelor and Master degrees from Central Washington University. Before becoming part of the team in the Douglas Honors College, Christina worked as a legal assistant; however, when CWU offered her an opportunity to do something a bit different she jumped at the chance. Starting as an office assistant in the Honors College, Christina took every opportunity she could to learn and do more which resulted in becoming the Academic and Student Success Coordinator and finally the Assistant Director of the DHC.
Christina enjoys spending time with her two daughters (a high school freshman and a high school senior) and her husband Jim, a local attorney. In the winter months, when not spending time with her family, you will find her shushing down the runs at Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort in Wenatchee. All the other months she spends time wishing it was the winter.
You may contact Ms. Denison at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 509-963-1445.
