Yvonne Pepin- Wakefield is an artist, art educator and author of Suitcase Filled with Nails: Lessons Learned from Teaching Art in Kuwait. The book chronicles the years 2004-2010, when she taught art to university aged Muslim women at a newly opened women’s college in Kuwait.
Her slide presentation, Abaya and Beyond, illustrates daily life in an out of the studio and the challenges of making and teaching art in this small Muslim country. From January 11, through March 8, 2013 Larson Gallery in Ellensburg features Yvonne’s solo exhibition of the paintings she created during her time in Kuwait.
