A Night Of Singing, Dancing and Getting Down Gospel Style: DaNell Daymon and The Greater Works Chorale

(Ellensburg, Wash. – Jan. 14, 2014) Imagine a concert full of fun, pizazz and classic gospel soul. Men and women are singing, dancing and getting their groove on, while inviting the audience to do the same. DaNell Daymon and the Greater Works Chorale do just that, and while CWU has played host to a variety of talented musical groups over the years, this gospel choir is sure to electrify their audience in ways the community has never experienced before. Come out for their performance Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the CWU Music Building Concert Hall as a part of Central’s Black History Month Celebration. Admission is free, but tickets are required and available at

According to their Facebook page, DaNell Daymon and the Greater Works Chorale aim to inspire each audience member and “challenge each individual to impact the world with their God given gifts and abilities.” Anyone who has seen them perform would agree that the choir achieves their goals through not only their exceptional musicianship but also their awe-inspiring stage presence.

While as a gospel choir the content of the songs they perform is based in religion, people from a variety of beliefs and backgrounds can enjoy the performance. Religious aspects aside, all attendees are sure to be uplifted by the sheer joy coursing through the choir’s performance.

The choir performed in Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound regional celebration and competition at Staples Center in 2012 and took home first place out of seven professional choirs. According to How Sweet the Sound’s website, “their showmanship was off the charts from the choir to the amazing soloist.” DaNell Daymon and the Greater Works Chorale have won numerous other singing competitions and recorded an album in June 2013.

Don’t miss the chance to witness this uplifting performance from one of the Northwest’s greatest gospel choirs.

This event is sponsored by the Center for Diversity and Social Justice, Campus Activities, Africana and Black Studies and the Black Student Union (BSU). Persons of disability may make arrangements for reasonable accommodation by calling 509-963-2127 or by e-mailing
