ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Richard DeShields, Central Washington University's associate dean of Student Living, has been named the chair-elect for the Association of College and University Housing Officers--International (ACUHO-I) Foundation.
"It's a privilege to serve as the chair-elect for the Foundation," said DeShields. "I consider ACUHO-I my professional alma mater and being able to serve on the Foundation board allows me to continue giving back to an organization that promotes on-campus living worldwide."
Recently, DeShields received the Ken Stoner Distinguished Service Award presented at the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) annual conference.
ACUHO-I is the major professional organization serving housing and residence life professionals both domestically and abroad. It is the preeminent professional association that supports and promotes the collegiate residential experience.
The ACUHO-I Foundation was formed in 1988 to provide waysfor individuals, institutions, corporations, government agencies, and other foundations to support the collegiate housing profession through gifts and grants. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $1 million used to fund commissioned research, study tours, conference speakers, institutes, and scholarships.
