Foundation for Early Learning
The Foundation for Early Learning is one of the innovative, exciting, and integral organizations which make up the early childhood panorama in the State of Washington. Their work is unique because it is dedicated to the really early part of early childhood - namely birth through five years old. If the needed resources, support, and responsiveness are equitably devoted to all of our children's beginning years and their families, the future is breathtaking. FEL's homepage explains it all:
That's why we support our youngest learners, children birth through age five, by providing grants, publications and resources.
FEL provides support to parents and to professionals who are working with children and families. It is a two pronged approach which recognizes the inseparable relationship between the family and the community of early childhood education. Since the Foundation was established in 2000, they have awarded over $6.5 million in grants to community groups. It is an honor to count The Teaching Equity Conference and The Power of Diversity Initiative as among the recipients of a Foundation grant. Foundation support is a resounding signal that the work for equity is an unimpeachable goal from the beginning of every child's life.
